大陸再次誓言將忽略裁決，並說，其軍隊將保衛大陸主權和海事利益。
大陸外交部長王毅表示，這起案件從頭到尾都是一場鬧劇，且將爭議推向緊張與衝突加劇的危險境地。但根據大陸國營報導，他也提及較具和解性的論調，表示該是讓事情重回正軌的時候了；並說，菲律賓新政府誠心採取舉措，證明他們願意改善雙方關係。
大陸外交部否決這項裁決，表示其人民在南海的歷史超過2000年，其島嶼擁有專屬經濟海域，以及1948年就向世界宣布九段線地圖。
大陸外交部表示：「中國在南海的領土主權和海事權益決不受裁決影響。」
不過，大陸外交部也重申，尊重與維護航行和飛越自由，以及大陸準備持續透過與具直接關聯的國家對話，解決爭議。
